I was amazed!
I went & rented Stay Alive the day it came out & I assumed it was gonna be a great big steaming turd. But, the horror geek & gaming nerd in me wouldn't miss it. Ten minutes in I was hooked.
I'm sure you all know the premise: Die in the game, die in real life. What was interesting was how the film moved & was paced. The film 'watched' like a game 'plays'. There were even little things I found amusing, like people finding locked doors, etc.
Above all else, the part that made the movie for me, was that they based the protagonist on a real historical person, Elizabeth Bathory. The crazy Hungarian Baroness that bathed in the blood of young girls to stay young forever, before being locked in her tower to die.
Anyhow, take 2 hours out of your life & give it a chance, it really was worth it. I ended up watching it 5 times in the first 3 days I had it. |
