As if the native United Kingdom band hadn't won enough accolades, they've taken it a step further. Coldplay won three awards at the Digital Music Awards for using the internet to further promote their music and create an online fan community. 'Coldplay.com won the people's choice award for best official site and the prize for best digital music community.'
Other awards that were taken home were by record label EMI for marketing the Coldplay album X&Y. And Apple's iTunes won best digital music store.
The Digital Music Awards are still fairly new, and obviously not as prestigious as older more traditional awards, however, they are starting to receive acclaim and it's not hard to see why. We live in a digital world, and as such times have changed and even mega corporations have seen the potential of the online world, and have taken advantage of it where they can.
