The XboX 360, one if not THE most highly anticipated console to date, was released on November 22nd. Now over a month later, sales (in Canada) have reached over $22 million. (Including software) Approximately 360,000 units have been sold in North America. However, what will be troubling news for the Mega-corporation is that sales in Japan were no where near as high as they projected. Only 62,000 units have been sold in the land of the rising sun, way below the original Xbox unit sales of 123,000 back in 2002.
The reason? Some analysts say that there aren't enough titles out to warrant the purchase of such a pricey console. Others say that many consumers are waiting to hear more about the PS3 and see how Sony will react to the 360.
A spokesperson for Microsoft, said that the unit sales are what they expected them to believe and that the 360 is on track for 3 million units sold after the 90 day period.
But hey, they're not going to say anything other than that right?
Regardless, what the 360 does have in abundance... is down-right-eye-popping-extreme-drooling graphics. |
